Hi friends. The last weeks were very busy. School homework have been coming in everyday. My house is quite in a disorder and I have to clean it. I'm having lesser and lesser times to shoot anything and I think I'll have to go away from deviantart for a while.
PORTFOLIO MAKING
------------------------
Yes I'm making one. I'll be submitting a screenshot for feedback very soon as I have to finalize the design for next tuesday. Right now, it's quite good looking

CAR SHOW 2008
--------------------
I've gone to Montreal's International Car Show and took some shots with my d80 and new 17-50 2.8 lens. I've seen lots of beauties but I don't think any of the shots as good looking as they are can be considered "art". Thus I think I wont be posting any of them... or maybe...

NEW DISCOVERY: RAW
----------------------------
I've never used it nor believe I would be using it at all. But when I discovered its power, I shoot in RAW all the time now and use Lightroom instead of Photoshop to process them. Wow
MY THOUGHTS ON PMA
---------------------------
Canon
Rebel XSi is quite a joke. They actually sacrificed a LOT of camera ergonomics on that one by pulling out a Live View 3 inch screen. The only good side to the machine is the stabilized sharp new version of the Kit 18-55 lens <- most enthusiast might change it for a better glass...
The new powershots are deceiving as they look as updates of their old models. There are still now wide angle lens for neither the G, S or A series. Is Canon forcing you to buy add on converters? It's quite sad because all these models are feature packed with functions you can find on dSLRs.
The Elph sd1100is is a smart update to the retro/ugly sd1000. They might get more people to buy an sd1100is.
Bottom line: Surely Canon has put all his money in the development of many of the 1D and 1Ds MkIII features such as the 3 inch Live View screen that has become standard for almost all his dSLR line. If Canon doesn't innovate soon, he will lose both compact and entry dSLR fronts and drop down to second place... The logical next move by Canon would be to remplace the aging but still good 5D by moving its 1Ds 21.1mp sensor onto the 6D and finally putting a wide angle lens on the G10 (with less deformations than its sd870is lens) but that will have to wait till next fall...
Nikon
Nikon D60 WTF? It's a D40x with a dust cleaning sensor, Active D-Lighting and the stabilized sharp new version of the Kit 18-55 lens. There are two ways to interpret this: one being the fact that Nikon is still cheap in innovation on the entry level and still doesn't want the D60 to be non-AFS compatible; the other being that Nikon released the true successor to the d40... Anyway, the D50 was waaaaaay better than this (but heavier too)
The coolpix body designs have gone way cheaper looking. The s51's successor is nowhere to be found...
Bottom line: Nikon truly impressed us with its new high-end machines (d3 and d300), leaving his low-end side to rot with some below-average 3 years old technology.
Fujifilm
FINALLY!!!! The new F series (F100fd) has a 28mm wide angle, 5X ZOOM, the S5 Pro's dynamic range optimizer, CCD-shift stabilization, 12mp on this Super CDD HR VIII sensor. I finally think that the ultimate point-and-shoot for people want a pocket cam with some interesting HI ISO performance has arrived.
The S100fd is making a comeback since the s6800fd left us wanting for more.
Bottom line: Fuji has finally made a F series worthy to be the true successor to the F30... now I'm just waiting for the test shots and see how much the noise performance has been improved...
Panasonic
The intelligent iso system Lumixed my subconscious and made me a believer. It makes every single auto mode of other camera look so 2006.
These people are surely not wasting time in 2008. All their Lumix line lenses are Leica equiped, stabilized and are at least 33mm wide of focal length with 2.8 aperture. I really like the update of the fx33: the fx35 will have a 25mm focal length. Impressive.
Now if they could add the dSLR functions to the next TZ series, Panasonic would have destroyed Canon's domination
Apparently the Venus IV will produce less noisy pictures than the Venus III (well I'm not complaining about my fx33 I love it

)
Bottom line: Panasonic is gaining land on Canon's p&s territory and may surpass him... until next fall maybe...
Pentax
Nothing else to say, they just released the best entry level dSLR ever.
The k200d is CCD-stabilized, 10mp and WEATHER SEALED???? What?! OMG
The k20d is 15mp?
